The Mission of H.I.G.O. Ministries
Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where people can rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose. Through structured reentry services and compassionate recovery support, we empower our participants to reclaim their futures and thrive in freedom.
HIGO Ministries, Inc. is a faith-based, charitable, and educational nonprofit organization committed to helping formerly incarcerated men and women successfully transition back into society. We also support those who are struggling to stay on the right path, including individuals overcoming drug and alcohol addiction.

How We Contribute to Your Spiritual Growth
Our outreach begins with connection and relationship building, meeting people in neighborhoods, shelters, transitional housing, and community spaces, listening to their stories, earning trust, and offering prayer, encouragement, and emotional support.
We provide practical resources such as food, hygiene kits, clothing, emergency supplies, and guidance toward housing, recovery support, and mentorship—helping individuals navigate services they may not understand or feel comfortable accessing. Every encounter becomes a pathway to transformation, connecting people to transitional housing, mentorship, counseling, and recovery programs, while offering follow‑up support so no one falls through the cracks.
Through prayer, Scripture, and community, we encourage spiritual growth and long‑term restoration rooted in Christ.
Our Youth Mentorship program reaches young people through speaking engagements at schools, churches, youth groups, and community events—creating powerful moments of connection, inspiration, and transformation. We also provide focused mentorship for youth with incarcerated parents, blending spiritual guidance, emotional support, and practical life‑skills training to help them navigate challenges, build confidence, and discover their God‑given purpose.
Worship is a lifestyle of adoration, submission, and sacrifice, presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God (Romans 12:1). Worship is the heart responding to truth, the mind rightly valuing who God is, and your whole life aligning with His will.
Worship shows itself through praise and singing, prayer and intercession, sacrificial living, and acts of love and service.
Bible Study is the intentional exploration of Scripture that leads to freedom, redemption, and purpose, "From Chains to Change". It is more than reading; it is engaging, reflecting, and responding to God’s Word so it transforms daily in our life.
Through methods like SOAP (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer), inductive study, verse‑by‑verse teaching, and character studies, we help individuals understand God’s truth, apply it personally, and walk in the spiritual change Scripture produces.
Prayer is the heartbeat of our ministry, expressed through a variety of Spirit‑led practices that help us seek God together.
We gather in Circle Prayer to build unity as each person prays aloud.
Popcorn Prayer we allow the Spirit to move freely as anyone speaks when led.
Through Intercessory Prayer we stand in the gap for those who are incarcerated, in transition, or hurting.
Scripture‑Based Prayer anchors us in God’s Word as we pray through passages like Psalm 91 and Isaiah 61.
Our Worship & Prayer Blend weaves songs with short prayers, softening hearts and inviting God’s presence.
Written Prayer Exchange deepens empathy as we share and read one another’s prayers.
Guided Prayer offers structure for newcomers through themes like forgiveness and restoration.
Silent Prayer Time creates space to listen for God’s voice, followed by shared reflections.
Prayer Walks allow us to cover neighborhoods and ministry spaces in intercession, inviting God’s peace to rest wherever we go.
